Darren Fenster Offers Some of His Top Coaching Tips For Youth Baseball

I take any chance I can get to talk baseball with Darren Fenster. A born-and-bred "Jersey guy" (Middletown HS South, Rutgers University), Darren managed in the Boston Red Sox minor league system for six years, and was also on the Team USA coaching staff for the 2021 Olympics.

In 2019, Darren was named the minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator for the Red Sox (despite the fact that he was an infielder for virtually his entire career).

Currently the minor league infield coordinator for the Red Sox, I spoke with Darren earlier this year about some of the lessons to be learned in coaching/motivating your team – whether it’s on the athletic field of play or in the office. He always has some great tips and advice when it comes to coaching youth baseball.

Back in January, I decided my one-word resolution for 2023 would be "finish." With summer baseball about to begin, this is a good time to see where we are in terms of following through on any baseball resolutions you might have begun the year with.

NOTE - this interview is from a Sunday morning public affairs show that I host weekly on WDHA in Morristown.
